Welcome to the Excel page. Microsoft Excel is one of the Microsoft Office programs that most students (including myself) do not know how to use to its full capabilities. It is generally used to make a spreadsheet consisting of gathered numerical data placed in "cells." It not only functions as a table creator, but it can do any mathematical function the user wishes, with the use of a formula. This takes away the hassle of entering the numbers into a calculator, and lessens the chance of an error in calculation. Apart from that, it can also generate any sort of graph based on the data that the user desires.
On the left is a table made that shows how I manage my time on an average week. This spreadsheet uses what is known as conditional formatting, which as the name states, formats a spreadsheet based on a set condition. The cells that are above six hours turn green, and the cells beneath one hour turn red. It also includes an automatically generated chart. On the right is a spreadsheet of the data gathered for our research project. Several formulas were used in the raw data gathered from the survey to later be analyzed. You can see the different charts to show the years students are in, the location of their jobs, comparison between time working at a job to average GPA, etc.
